Setting Goals with Students

This year, I am trying help students make the best use of their practice time at home.  Students were instructed to choose at least five things that they could focus on adding into their practice.

I then made custom sticky notes for each student to stick onto one of their assigned pieces.

I started with just one of the goals they chose, and challenged each student to add that into their practice at home.  They were meant to check off each day that they did it.

The next week, was another one of their goals.  I also added a little reminder to the sticky note about their previous challenge from the week before.

As the weeks went on, I kept adding to the challenges.

*These particular sticky notes were for a Wednesday student,
so I ordered the days starting with Wednesday.

Once all challenges were complete, I placed a sticky note in their book that said "Keep up the good habits".

If you're interested in helping your students build better practice habits at home, download the FREE sticky note printable from my TPT store.

The PDF includes fillable form fields, so that you can customize it for each of your students.  You can use an app like Adobe Acrobat, or simply open it in Google Drive, click the 3 dots in the very right corner and select "Open in new window."
